  1. hi, this may sound stupid but can someone be too skinny to get a tattoo?
im only like 102lbs and wanted a small one on my lower back.
would that be a problem since i dont have like any fat?
    thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  2. No Problem. Too fat or too skinny is never an issue for getting a tattoo. A huge question that people usually ask is if they plan on getting bigger from working out or if they gain weight will their tattoo shrink or grow and look bad. The skin usually grows equally in proportion, therefore the tattoo will grow equally with the skin. It would have to be a major change in order to effect the tattoo. I have seen many tattoos over the years done on skinny 18 year olds that turned into huge muscle heads and still the tattoo looked great! This is something you should not worry about.

  3. Hi,
i was wondering what types of jewelry you guys initially pierce a rook/daith with? could i start off with a curved barbell, or do i need the ball closure?
    thank so much.

  4. Most of the time we do use a Captive Bead Ring and recommend it as it is easy to take care of and keep clean during the healing process. We do many starting with the Curved BB, but when starting with the BB you must take extra precaution in the healing to ensure it stays clean! We only do the piercing - the most important part is up to you, healing!

  6. This brings up an interesting subject. Tiny tattoos like this - why do they cost as much as they do? The reason is that the artist has to setup thier equipment, needles, ink, gloves and all disposable items just as if they were to do a large tattoo, therefore we have a minumum charge just for a setup. The shop minimum is $60 then add a little as this is just a little more then the minumum tattoo as it is probably a little more involved and probably in an upcharge area like the neck. I would figure around $75-$85 for this tattoo, depending how elaborate you want to get. It is very hard to price tattoos over the internet as we like to sit with the customer and review exactly what they are looking for, all details and size to make an acurate figure of cost. Please refrain from asking prices on the internet site, we prefer to review in person.

  7. Do you guys run your own website or does a company do it. I can spend an hour of my time just hanging out at tattoolous.com. Your photos are really cool. I study photography in school. How do you get your pictures of artists to look like hdrs unless you really are taking hdrs in which case I can tip my hat to you. Nice work!

    thanks

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well - it is fine, because we will clean the area of the piercing in order to properly prep for the piercing so it does not matter!

  15. Hello :)

So I'm planning on getting my lip pierced in a few weeks but I have a couple of questions about it first.

    1. Can I buy a lip stud and bring it in to be pierced with? I know a lot of people with lip studs and the studs they were pierced with are bigger than my liking. Or do you sell smaller ones there that I can purchase to be pierced with?

    2. How long does it take to heal?
    3. Will it leave a big scar if i take it out in a couple of years?

    ReplyDelete
  16. i have had my tattoo for 11 days and its peeling lil bit n underneath the peeling its darker... is that normal ?

    ReplyDelete
  17. As for the lip piercing yes we have lots of jewelry - come down and take a look at our great displays of body poercing jewelry. As for healing it take about 4-6 weeks to heal. For scaring - the lip heals well, should be min. to no scar! See you soon.

    ReplyDelete
  18. As for your tattoo peeling and being darker underneath, YES IT IS NORMAL!!!! During the healing process of a tattoo the skin will grow over the tattoo and actually make it look dull for a few weeks, many people actually worry about the opposite - they think their tattoo faded, but it really didn’t.... as you are seeing now - the skin eventually will peel and the great deep colors of your tattoo will come back to life... everyone heals differently and different parts of the body heal faster then others so the peeling can happen anywhere in between 1-4 weeks! Good Luck and see you for your next Tattoo as this may be your new addiction!!

  19. do you guys own that club in port jefferson now too? somebody told me you bought bianco. thanks for the shirt its real cool. Im gonna give it to my brother for xmas

  20. i am 16 and would like to get my belly button pierced. my mom and i went to your website and she got the minor piercing consent form notarized and so if we bring that in, her ID, and my ID, will that be all i need to be able to get the piercing?
    thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  21. That is great but we still need your Parent to come in with you when you get pierced. Thank You!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Do you guys do inner lip tattoos? If so how long do they last because I have heard ranges from one month to several years.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was just wondering if you did hip piercings and if so around how much would it cost to get 1 on each side.
    thanks in advance

    ReplyDelete
  24. As for the Hip Piercings 70 for one 120 for both.

    ReplyDelete
  25. As for the inner lip tattoos, yes we do them. They should last many years, but there is no guarantee as this is not the best location for a tattoo. Everyone heals differently and it may ware faster on certain people!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I've been doing research on solid white tattoos. Some people may not be able to hold the white ink & sometimes the tattoo won't show up after it's healed pending skin color etc.

What's your take on white tattoos? And would you do it there? (I confess I want a simple design done on my inner wrist)

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I got my first tattoo done there. You guys really are awesome.

  27. hi, me and two of my friends want to get our bellybuttons peirced, and we were wondering if personaly you think its hurts a lot or not. And also my friend said she heard about people getting their belly buttons frozen before the peircing.. do you guys do that?

    ReplyDelete
  28. hi, i was wondering if you do cartlidge piercings and how much would this cost? and also how much would a belly button ring cost also?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Do piercings hurt..... well, it hurts like a little pinch no big deal at all. No need to freeze because the pain level is so low during the piercing. The worst part is that it is sore afterwards.... not the actual piercing itself!!! See you soon!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cartlidge Piercings cost $30 including Body Jewelry. $40 for a Naval (belly button ring) Piercing includig jewelry! You can see the whole piercing price list on the downloads page of www.tattoolous.com scroll down and it is on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just got my second hole pierced at the mall three weeks ago and I think they got to close to my cartilage, is this possible. The lobe around it was hard after they did and and still to this day, that is why I think they pierced my cartilage. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sorry Tattoo Lous does not do sub clavicles !

    ReplyDelete
  34. about the piercing at the mall - come see us let one of Tattoo Lous professional piercers take a look for the best advise!

  35. Hi! I really want to get an inner lip tattoo so I came by the store the other day to talk about pricing and see if you guys had any pictures of lip tattoos done in the past. Unfortunately, I was told that you guys don't do inner lip tattoos anymore but in this thread, you say that you do. I was just wondering what the right answer was. thank you! =]

    ReplyDelete
  36. im sorry i know you said not to ask about pricing over the internet because it's better to do it in person, but i live in GA and i'm going to NY and planning to get a tattoo by you guys (i got great recomendations to go to Lou's). so just in general i know your minimum is $60, but im thinking of getting my daughter's newborn footprint on the back of my shoulder with her name, date of birth and angel wings; around how much would it cost? (just a range, it doesn't really matter how big the range is i just want to have an idea) thanks

    ReplyDelete
  37. hey i just recently got my hips peirced and i think its scarring the place where the holes are,are a little bit purple what do i do?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hello - Anything like this is hard to see what is going on over the internet. Stop down anytime and we will take a look at it to see what is going on. Even if you got the hip piercing somewhere other then Tattoo Lous we will still take a look and help you out. See you soon!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey, I want to get my nostril pierced and was wondering if you suggest a ring or a stud. I have heard that ring is better for healing. Is this true?

    ReplyDelete
  40. hi, i got my tragus pierced 5 months ago and i want to change it, im almost positive it has heeled. how do i get this earring off without having to stop in? I've tried unscrewing the ball and had no luck.

    ReplyDelete
  41. hi, i just got my belly button pierced yesterday nd i got the barbell and i was wondering wat size the barbell is because i want to get a belly button ring for when i can change it and i dont kno what size to get. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  42. All Naval Piercings start with 14 gauge jewelry. 14 gauge is best size for healing without being able to rip out easily. enjoy! Take great care of your piercing while healing. Let us know if you need to buy jewelry or you would like us to do the first changing for you even if you buy piercing jewelry somewhere else. There is just a $5 fee for changing your piercing as the piercer must setup thier station for you and use a pair of gloves, its worth having a professional do the job.

    ReplyDelete
  43. do you pierce people cartilage with a needle? b/c i heard it is very unsafe to do it with a gun, and it hurts more.

    ReplyDelete
  44. do u pierce cartilage with a hoop or stud? i wud much rather have a stud

    ReplyDelete
  45. Absolutely - we only use a needle that is the only way a cartilage piercing should be done, or actually any other piercing with the exception of an ear lobe!

    ReplyDelete
  46. how much does a nose piercing cost with the ring? because I'm thinkig of coming over there tomorrow or Saturday with y mom since I'm sixteen. and also do you sell hoops for the nose?

    ReplyDelete
  47. hi :]
im coming in soon to get my belly button peirced, can we pick out our own belly rings and bring them in?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey guys.(=

Im Almost 15 and i got My Bellybutton pierced in November at a different tattoo/piercing place near my house, it was almost painless && it looked so so cute after. I took REALLY good care of it, like i cleaned it everyday, with the solution three times a day, like my guy told me, and i waited four months to take it out, But when i took it out it looked completely fine, it wasnt infected but all of a sudden it started bleeding, not alot, but noticeable, so i cleaned it, and i couldnt get the new Bellybutton ring back in. Why Did it close? And Its been two months and i have a small scar=/ I really want to get it redone, ive waited two months, but would you be able to re-piercee even though like their's a scar?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Unfortunetly piercings do close very fast, everyone is different but most body piercings will close fast. Yes you can come down anytime and we can repierce it for you, we may be able to avoid piercing through the scar but need to see it, otherwise if scar is healed its not a problem. See you soon for your new piercing!

  50. Hi I am 15 years old. My parents will not let me get my belly button pierced. They keep telling me that they will never take me and when I told them I would do it myself they said go ahead. Do you no any places that there is no age to get it done. If my parents were to find out I would just tell them I did it myself..they wouldnt care. But please help me out. I need a place where theres no age limit. Thanks a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi, i got my belly button pierced about a month ago and my parents said it was ok to change it, so i changed it yesterday, and it is fine it doesnt hurt or it doesnt seem infected or anything, but i was just wondering if it is bad that i changed it this early? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  52. hi, i want to get my nose pierced at your shop. i'm 16 and my moms letting me get it done, but she's worried about what the scaring will be when i take it out years from now. so what kind of scarring will it leave? and what will i need for ID/proof of identity and that stuff?
    Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hello - you would need to get a notorized letter for permission from your Mom as you are under 18. Your Mom also must be present and you both must have ID. As for scaring- there is very little on a nose piercig if anything. Usually once taken out and fully healed you cannot notice anything!

    ReplyDelete
  54. As for person asking about using a ring or stud in nose piercing. Always a ring in recommended as it is easy to spin and clean, but a stud actually known as a nostril screw- because it is not the same as an ear stud works great and looks the best- you just must be careful in healing it so take extra special care and it will be fine!

    ReplyDelete
  55. White Tattoos- As for white tattoos, white is not the best color in tattooing. The lighter the color the less it lasts or shows up depending upon your lightness of skin color. I always explain this as if you are looking through a light pair of sunglasses or a dark pair of sunglasses. The darker the skin the less a tattoo will show up. Therefore if you have very fair skin white may show up, but by itself white is not strong at all that is why it is mainly used just for highlights next to a dark color so that it will pop. Some people like this light look of a white tattoo, but because of the nature of it and the possibility of it loosing its look all together we do them but DO NOT Guarantee them at all as we stand behind every tattoo done at Tattoo Lous.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Inner lip tattoos. Some tattoo artists do not like to do them as they may fade or spread a bit, therefore there are some tattoo artists at Tattoo Lous who will do them but it is by request per artist. Therefore if you are interested in getting one best bet is to e-mail us at info@tattoolous.com for more info and we can also diret you to an artist!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Any problems with any piercing we always recomend first thing to do is stop by any Tattoo Lous location and let us take a look - even if we did not do your piercing its OK, stop by and let us look at it so we can direct you if you are healing it corretly or not!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Changing a Captive Bead Ring - allot of piercings are done with Captive Bead Rings, these are the hoops with one ball in the center. You cannot unscrew the bead as it is held on by the pressure of the ring. So it is simply twisting the ring or using an opening and closing plyers to adjust the pressure applied to the ball. You can try to remove it on your own but depending on the guage of the piecing this may be very difficult to do without causing trama to the piercing, therefore we always recomend that you stop at one of our 4 locations of Tattoo Lous and let us do it for you in a sterile enviornment. There is a small charge but it is well worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If you are under 18 YOU CANNOT GET PIERCED WITHOUT A PARENTAL CONSENT LETTER, and it MUST BE Notarized..... and your parent must be present... There is NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE!

    ReplyDelete
  60. If you are under 18 YOU CANNOT GET TATTOOED - NO WAY NO HOW!!!! I dont care if your parent is OK with it, and gives you permission YOU CANNOT GET TATTOOED UNDER THE AGE OF 18. ITS THE LAW!

    ReplyDelete
  61. My piercing closed - If you remove a piercing jewelry from the hole it will close eventually. Everyone heals differently and each piercing on your body may take a different amount of time to close. Also every person heals differently. One persons nostril piercing may close in 2 weeks afer removing jewelry, yet thier friend may take it out for a month at a time and it is OK.... yet I have seen people take a nostril piering out and it is closed within one day! Therefore we always recommend that you use a retainer to keep the hole from shrinking any time you remove a piercing that you want to keep. Stop down ask us about retainers and we may even have them for sale at the shop for you convenience.

  62. Hi, i got my belly button pierced on march 31st and i changed it about a week ago and it is fine now its not infected or it doesnt hurt or anything but when i first changed it the top hole bled a little but then it stoped and it was fine after that. So i was wondering y it bled and if it is bad that i changed it that early? Thanks!

  63. Im 16 turning 17 next month and i was wondering if it is ok if my step dad takes me to get my bellybutton pierced because my mom works during the day. The only thing is we have different last names so i dont know if that would matter or be allowed. also i have a sister that is 25 years old, can she count as a guardian to get a piercing

    ReplyDelete
  64. As for the step dad bringing you for the piercing. No problem as long as they are your legal guardian and have the paperwork to prove it and notary is OK with it!

    ReplyDelete
  65. DO WE ID? YES - no one gets anything done at Tattoo Lous without ID. Even if you are 50 we need your liscence and we make a copy for our paperwork!!! And if you are under 18 you can pierced with parental concent and a notorized letter..... and your parent must be present with you at the time of the piercing! For Tattoos you MUST be 18, no exceptions.... I dont care if your parent is OK with it becuase it is against the laws of NYS and most other states! We only except picture ID also!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. i was wondering, do you guys pierce cartilages with curved barbells or just the circular rings? i was hoping to get my cartilage pierced with a curved barbell at tattou lous but as i was browsing through your website i saw that all your ear piercings were done with the circular ones.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I turn 18 tomorrow and I wanted a tattoo...about how much would it cost?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Sure we can pierce your cartilage with a curved barbell a mini barbell or a captive bead ring.

    ReplyDelete
  69. as for turning 18 and how much does a tattoo cost. That question is very vague. Tattoos costs vary depending on size of tattoo, placement of tattoo on the body, details, colors of tattoo and so much more. It is very difficult to give you a price without complete details of exactly what you want you. We highly recomend that in order to get an acurate price you must come sit with an artist for a free consultation on tattoos anytime. Its is nearly impossible to give a price over the internet so prefer not to even attemp to!!!
See you soon - stop down any tattoo lous shop soon and we will be happy to help you.

  70. i got my belly pierced about a year ago but had to take it out last september becasue it grew out of my skin. i have a scar now and im thinking about getting it repierced.i cleaned it daily and did everything i was supposed to. i think becasue i changed it from the circle ring to a dangly one it got infected. what are the chances of it getting infected and rejecting my skin again? i dont even wanna change the ring this time i just want to cover the scar. im only 16

    ReplyDelete
  71. You can get it repierced most likely behind the scar and cover the scar. There is a good chance it will stay as long as the proper jewelry is used. If you come to us and let us change it when it is good and ready to be updated to a newer jewelry it should be fine! Stop by anytime for a free consultation, we will gladly help you. for proper info on age limitations on piercings and forms you would need to fill out check out www.tattoolous.com

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  80. No you are never too fat for a tattoo...... tons fat people get inked up!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Also, I was wandering what's the standard gauge size that you guys use for lip piercings?

    ReplyDelete
  82. As for nose retainers, yes we do sell them at Tattoo Lous. All long island locations.

    ReplyDelete
  83. as for punch or hip piercings, we can do either a surface piercing- a curved barbell with 2 holes, in and out hole for barbell. Or we do microdermal piercings, also known as a single point piercing. This is done with a punch and will look like a floating studd in the skin. Microdermals are now very popular and Tattoo Lous is the number one place to come get them. Check this page for great info on microdermal piercings http://www.tattoolous.com/microdermal-piercings.html

    ReplyDelete
  84. Standard gauge size for a lip piercing is 18 gauge. Usually done in a hoop off to one side or evenly on both sides. Unless you are talking about a labret piercing, in the center just below the lip. Labret piercings are usually 16 gauge.

  99. Hi! So I wanted to know if I were to make an appointment for a consultation and a drawing, would it be odd if I waited a few months after the appointment to get the tattoo? I just can't afford to add to mine right now but I want to be able to think about the design and not rush into things like I did for my first tattoo. Also, would I be able to hold on to a copy of the drawing? I completely understand if I can't, but I want to be comfortable with the design and being able to look at it everyday for a while would really help.
